Verónica is a photographer, expedition leader, polar guide, and outdoor educator whose career has been shaped by a lifelong passion for exploration, creativity, and the natural world. Originally from Santiago, Chile, she developed an early connection with nature through extensive travels and camping trips throughout southern Chile, experiences that sparked a lasting fascination with wilderness, landscapes, and adventure.
She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts and, during her university years, discovered two passions that would profoundly influence her life: mountaineering and photography. Following her graduation, she continued her studies in Italy through an academic exchange program, where she deepened her appreciation for art, architecture, culture, and international travel.
Upon returning to Chile, Verónica worked as a professional photographer and photography instructor while continuing to pursue mountaineering and trekking throughout the Andes. During this period, she organized and managed private expeditions, developing extensive experience in logistics, planning, and leadership across a wide variety of environments and travel conditions.
Her passion for exploration eventually led her to Patagonia, where she worked as a trekking guide for Explora in Torres del Paine National Park. She later embarked on a personal documentary project to create a photographic portrait of Chile, traveling more than 13,800 kilometers from the northernmost point of the country to its southernmost point accessible by road. The project culminated in the publication of a limited-edition photography book that documented the landscapes, people, and diversity of Chile.
In 2007, Verónica was awarded both a Fulbright Scholarship and a Chilean Government Scholarship to pursue a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Photography at Parsons School of Design in New York City. Her academic and artistic work further strengthened her ability to observe, interpret, and communicate complex human and environmental experiences.
As part of Leadership Expeditions and Vertical’s programs, Verónica has spent many years leading and facilitating leadership, team-building, and experiential learning expeditions in Antarctica, Patagonia, the Atacama Desert, and the Central Andes. Working as both expedition leader and logistics coordinator, she helps participants develop decision-making skills, teamwork, adaptability, and leadership through challenging outdoor experiences.
Her passion for the polar regions led her to join expedition cruise operations as both expedition guide and photographer. Since then, she has accumulated extensive experience in Antarctica and, beginning in 2022, expanded her work to the Arctic. Today, she holds Senior Polar Guide status through the Polar Tourism Guides Association (PTGA) and continues to guide expeditions in some of the world’s most remote and inspiring environments.
Through her unique combination of art, exploration, leadership, and polar experience, Verónica helps others discover new perspectives on themselves, their teams, and the extraordinary environments they encounter.
Veronica has more than 600 days in mountain and trekking expeditions in Africa, Antarctica, Arctic Bolivia,Chile, Ecuador, Patagonia and United States. Including long unassisted expeditions in Southern Ice fields and Kayaking in the Southern Chilean Fjords. Her life is divided between the outdoors and working as an artist and photographer.
Her artwork has been exhibited published and in Argentina, Australia, Brasil, Chile, Ecuador, Perú and United States, and currently she has a photography show that it’s traveling through Chile.
