Leadership Expeditions Guide
Sebastián Rosende is a professional mountain guide, outdoor educator, and mountaineer with more than 25 years of experience leading expeditions, technical climbing programs, and outdoor education initiatives throughout the Americas. He combines extensive field experience with a strong background in leadership development, mountain instruction, and the outdoor industry.
As part of Leadership Expeditions and Vertical’s experiential learning programs, Sebastián contributes his expertise in mountaineering, risk management, teamwork, and decision-making in challenging environments. His approach helps participants develop confidence, resilience, and leadership skills through meaningful experiences in the mountains and the natural world.
Sebastián completed studies in Agricultural Administration and earned his certification as a Professional Mountain Guide through Chile’s National Mountaineering School (ENAM). Throughout his career, he has specialized in high-altitude mountaineering, backcountry skiing, alpine climbing, and technical rock climbing across the Andes and North America.
His climbing experience spans some of the most iconic mountain regions in the world. In the United States, he has completed numerous climbs in Yosemite National Park, the desert canyons of Utah, the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, and Devils Tower in Wyoming. In South America, he has participated in expeditions throughout Chile, Argentina, Peru, and Bolivia.
Among his notable achievements, Sebastián has summited Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Americas, on fourteen separate occasions. He has also completed numerous ascents in Patagonia, including expeditions to Torres del Paine and Mount Fitz Roy, two of the most renowned climbing destinations in the Southern Hemisphere.
Beyond his mountaineering accomplishments, Sebastián has participated in scientific and exploratory expeditions involving archaeological, geological, and botanical research, further strengthening his understanding of mountain environments and natural systems.
Today, Sebastián serves as Brand Manager for Mountain Hardwear in Chile, teaches mountaineering at Universidad San Sebastián (USS), and continues to work as an instructor and expedition leader with Vertical, sharing his passion for the mountains and helping others develop the skills and confidence to thrive in challenging environments.
