Leadership Expeditions Guide
Patrick is an expedition leader, outdoor educator, and operations specialist with more than 12 years of experience leading and managing wilderness expeditions throughout Chilean Patagonia. His professional career has been built around the planning and execution of complex outdoor programs in remote environments, combining operational excellence, risk management, and a deep knowledge of Patagonia’s natural and cultural landscapes.
As part of Leadership Expeditions and Vertical’s experiential learning programs, Patrick serves as both guide and logistics coordinator, supporting university and leadership expeditions in some of the most remote regions of South America. He has worked extensively with Wharton Leadership Ventures, participating in programs in Antarctica, Navarino Island, Cerro Castillo, and Vodudahue, where he helps ensure safe, effective, and meaningful experiences for participants.
Patrick’s outdoor career began in the mountains of Central Chile and later expanded to Patagonia, where he worked with Big Foot Patagonia leading glacier trekking and kayaking expeditions on Grey Glacier and Grey Lake in Torres del Paine National Park. In these highly dynamic environments, he developed extensive expertise in expedition logistics, safety systems, and risk management in remote terrain.
For more than a decade, Patrick has worked as an independent guide and expedition leader, developing a leadership style that combines operational efficiency with a strong commitment to environmental stewardship and participant development. His knowledge extends beyond expedition management to include the geology, ecology, flora, fauna, history, and cultural traditions of Patagonia, allowing participants to gain a deeper understanding of the places they explore.
In addition to his field leadership responsibilities, Patrick coordinates leadership and team-building programs for Vertical, applying practical experience in crisis management, team coordination, and decision-making under pressure.
Patrick is a graduate of the Vertical Institute and holds certifications as a Wilderness First Responder (WFR), Mountain Safety and Risk Management Specialist, and Environmental Protection Practitioner through the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS). These qualifications reflect his commitment to safety, professionalism, and responsible leadership in wilderness environments.
His passion for exploration extends beyond guiding and includes photography, mountain biking, horseback riding, climbing, and wilderness travel. Through these pursuits, Patrick continues to cultivate a broad perspective on leadership, adventure, and the powerful role that nature can play in personal growth and learning.
