Throughout his career, he has combined technical excellence, perseverance, and a passion for exploration, becoming a respected figure within the international mountaineering community.
As part of Leadership Expeditions and Vertical’s experiential learning programs, Misael serves as Expedition Logistics Manager, supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of complex leadership expeditions throughout Chile and South America. His extensive field experience and operational expertise help ensure the safe and successful delivery of programs in remote environments, while providing participants with valuable lessons in leadership, preparation, resilience, and teamwork.
Over the course of his mountaineering career, Misael has participated in expeditions across South America, the Himalayas, Central Asia, and Antarctica. His achievements include successful ascents of Mount Everest and Mount Lhotse in Nepal, as well as K2 in Pakistan, the second-highest mountain in the world. He is one of only a handful of Chilean climbers to have reached the summit of K2 and has completed nearly all of his major ascents without supplemental oxygen.
Misael is also the third Chilean to complete the Seven Summits challenge, successfully climbing the highest peak on each continent. Among his most notable accomplishments, he became the first South American and only the fourth person in the world to solo climb the South Face of Aconcagua, one of the most demanding alpine routes in the Americas.
His expedition experience includes a solo attempt on Shishapangma (8,046 m) in Tibet, reaching an altitude of 7,400 meters, as well as numerous exploratory and high-altitude expeditions throughout the Andes and Himalayas. These experiences have established him as one of Chile’s most experienced high-altitude mountaineers and expedition planners.
Beyond his climbing achievements, Misael is recognized for his humility, discipline, and commitment to sharing knowledge with future generations of climbers and outdoor leaders. Through Leadership Expeditions, he continues to inspire participants by demonstrating how determination, preparation, and teamwork can transform ambitious goals into reality.
